CHEC - Christian Home Educated Children
CHEC serves as a Yahoo support group for Volusia County. Our members homeschool under the Home school Law or enroll with private schools affiliated with home education. We offer information about activities for children in grades K-12. Some of the activities include high school labs and classes, activity afternoons, field trips, science/art/history fairs, opportunities for testing and evaluation, and support for parents of special needs children. Each of members play an important role in this group by passing along any information they feel could help other homeschool families.
CHEC strives to encourage, support, and keep our members informed on all personal and legislative issues pertaining to home education.
We encourage new home educators to join in on the various activites available to CHEC members to build friendships and support.
In order to join CHEC each prospective member needs to complete an application available here on the web site under BECOMING A MEMBER or at a group meeting. Please click on the link on our sidebar

C.H.E.C. STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE… The Bible, both Old and New Testament, is inspired by God in every word, completely without error in the original writings, and is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
God in eternity exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin.
(Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 48:16; Matt. 3:16-17; 28:19; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; Jude 20-21; Luke 1:31-35; John 1:1-4; 10:28-30; Col. 1:13-17; 2:9; Heb. 1:8-9)
Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin through the disobedience of Adam and is therefore lost and unable to justify himself before God. (Genesis 1:27; Gen. 3; Romans 3:10-12, 23; 5:12)
Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, acquired through personal faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners and who rose again for their justification. (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Rom. 4:25; 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7)
The Holy Spirit produces a new life, and God has anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (John 14:26; 16:7-14; Titus 3:5; Rom.8:1-17; Eph. 1:13-14; 3:16-20; 4:30; Acts 1:8)
The blessed hope of the church of Jesus Christ is the reality of the imminent, personal return of her Lord and Savior. (Acts 1:10-11; 1 Thess. 4:13-18)
Man’s eternal destiny is solely determined by his acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ, God’s provision for man’s sin. Those who accept Christ as their Savior will be resurrected to eternal life and joy in the presence of God, but those who reject Christ will be resurrected to judgment and separation from God for all eternity. (Daniel 12:2; Matt. 25:46; John 5:24-29; 1 Thess.4:13-18; Rev. 20:6; 21:1-8; Rom. 2:5, 8; Rev. 20:10-15

We will be putting our focus on Homeschooling with Home Meetings.
No more LARGE meetings, but more personal, interest oriented home meetings geared towards gathering homeschoolers together in smaller settings where you can share, support, and encourage one another. Attending one meting doesn’t mean you are committed to that group. There will be a variety of groups/topics throughout the year which will give you the opportunity to meet other homeschoolers.
We have two meetings scheduled for September (location, times and more information will be announced at the August meeting and later on the Yahoo group)
Homeschooling Your High Schooler
